Road race events

The Games are coming to Gold Coast streets, with 7 free race events for everyone to enjoy!

To enable the road events to take place, there’ll be some temporary road closures, parking restrictions and waterway access changes around the courses. Check out our interactive travel impacts map to see how your journey could be affected.

If you live or park along one of the race routes, or 20 metres up adjacent side streets, please ensure you move your vehicle the night before the race, to avoid being towed.

For any cars towed during the events please call Policelink on 131 444.

Triathlon

The Triathlon will be held on Thursday 5 April and Saturday 7 April from 9.30am to 3pm on both days, with the Individual Men’s and Women’s Triathlon on 5 April and the Para Triathlon and Mixed Team Relay on 7 April.

To ensure safety and the smooth running of this competition there will be temporary changes to traffic, parking, public transport and access to some areas during the races.

If you have to travel during this time, please be aware that the roads will be busier than usual. Plan ahead and leave plenty of time for your journey. Pedestrian access will be maintained along the race route, so walking and cycling may be better options to access local areas. Here are some tips:

  • Avoid coastal roads and use western roads
  • If you need to travel during road closure hours, park west of affected roads.
