Queen's Baton Relay

Queen's Baton Relay

The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) is a Games tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride and excites people about the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.

The Relay is the longest continual promotion of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018). It provides an organic global reach for GC2018 across the 288-day international sector and the 100-day domestic sector throughout Australia.

The Baton will arrive in Queensland on Saturday 3 March 2018 and make its way across the state to reach the Gold Coast on Sunday 1 April 2018. The route is now available – visit gc2018.com/qbr to find out when the Baton will be in your area!

How will the Queen's Baton Relay affect me?

Due to the nature of the Relay, some roads and public transport services will be impacted while the Baton visits your area.

More detailed information about how this may affect you will be available February 2018, however examples of temporary interruptions include:

  • rolling road closures
  • traffic congestion
  • property access restrictions
  • bus service disruptions.

While every effort will be made to minimise disruptions or delays, we appreciate your patience during this once in a lifetime event.
